I haven’t started the LEGO® Transformers Icons line yet, but I’m about to. Optimus Prime (10302) and Bumblebee (10338) are my next two builds — and when those are complete, Soundwave (10358) will be my grand finale. The Decepticon I’ve been saving a spot for.

Why Soundwave Is the One I’m Working Toward
Soundwave has always been my favorite Decepticon — logical, loyal, and quietly intimidating. LEGO’s version captures that with transforming mechanics, cassette storage, and even a built-in sound brick that plays his voice lines. It’s nostalgia with a purpose.
Design Highlights
Early reviews show a faithful transformation system, cassette companions Laserbeak and Ravage, and clean proportions in both robot and cassette modes. You even get visor options for G1 accuracy.
The Plan
Once Optimus and Bumblebee are complete, Soundwave will join them. The contrast of bright Autobots versus the cool Decepticon tones will make an incredible display — equal parts childhood and craftsmanship.
Why It’s Worth the Wait
LEGO’s Transformers Icons line treats nostalgia with respect. These aren’t simple tributes — they’re mechanical masterpieces that feel alive. Soundwave is the boldest of the bunch, and I’m thrilled to make him my future centerpiece.
Pros
- Fully transformable design
- Voice brick adds interactivity
- Includes cassette minions
- Faithful to the G1 look
Cons
- Premium price point
- Limited articulation
- Sound brick requires battery upkeep
Final Thoughts
Even before owning it, LEGO® 10358 Soundwave feels like the perfect goal build — the Decepticon waiting patiently at the end of my LEGO Transformers journey. Once Optimus and Bumblebee are in place, Soundwave will complete the trilogy in style.
